About Nayagarh NAC :
About 500 years ago a habitat was established at the natural valley between the famous Rukhi & Balaram Hills during the Gadajata Administration period. The then administration of the Royal hierarchy was going on till independence and Nayagarh was the capital at that time.
It was also known as “Baaghua Nayagarh” during the rule of king Baghal Singh and then named as Nayagarh. Then the small town Nayagarh was declared as NAC by Govt. on 13.08.1953.
After declaration of NAC, the sanitation work was managed by engaging manual Scavengers. Street was lighting by using Kerosene lamp .Solid wastage were lifted by bullock cart. But now a day the work of sanitation was developed and lifted the waste material by Tractors, Trolleys etc. Time and again Street lighting becomes developed from electric bulb to bar, mv/sv light, High Mast light and at last by LED lighting. Cesspool emptier vehicle has been used for cleaning of latrine tanks.
Besides the above, ULB is now extending a drinking water facility through pipe water supply, water tanker during festival and scarcity period. Public roads are now also became changed from Murom Road to Bitumen and then concrete. Apart from that the ULB constructed a park for refreshment of the general public, a Community center for the Urban poor, a Kalyanmandap for general public and many more facilities to the Urban people.
Urban Population & Statistical information
This N.A.C. started functioning with effect from 13.8.1953 as per Govt. notification No.4475/LSG dated 13.8.1953 of Housing & Urban Development Department, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. Geographically, the area of this N.A.C. covers around 15.54 Sq. Kms. The entire N.A.C. area is situated over the revenue village i.e. Nayagarh and part of Sinduria.
